I trusted you and you left me.
You left me, making yourself believe
I would be all right.
I shared your winter with you.
We were companions.
I thought you loved me
and summer came and you left
for somewhere you called, "home".
You went home and I was left
to wander with so many others.
We wander parks and estates
and college campuses and streets
and backyards and alleyways.
I have babies now, 
wandering with me.
I think they are luckier than I.
They wander only looking for
food and shelter.
They do not know
my hunger is also for lost love.
